Current Events and Issues Advisor
Description
The current Events and Issues Advisor will be responsible for keeping up with local, regional, national news that pertains to HPWA’s objectives and work. News that pertains to HPWA should be forwarded and/or cited with a short synopsis, to HPWA staff. An example, of this would be emailing an article and/or citation to HPWA staff about the City of Las Vegas’s plans to thin part of the watershed. Events Coordinator
Description
Work closely with HPWA staff in planning and organizing events. The Events coordinator will be responsible for two major events every year, which includes the Annual Gallinas River Clean-Up and the Watershed Olympics. For these events the Events Coordinator will be in charge of fundraising, both monetary and in-kinds donations (if a fundraising coordinator is available may do this as a partnership), setting dates, booking entertainment, as needed, obtaining proper permits, work with the Volunteer Coordinator to find volunteers to participate and help with the events, and also work closely with the Public Relations Coordinator to ensure proper promotion and advertising for each event. Basic Duties: coordination of major events Minimum Monthly Time Requirement: 10 hours
Fundraising Coordinator
Description
Develop a strategy and head fundraising activities. The person filling the role of Fundraising Coordinator will need to creative and determined to raise money for a variety of HPWA initiatives, including, but not limited to: the Land Stewardship Series, Watershed Olympics, Gallinas River-Clean Up, educational materials, and other basic operating costs. The Fundraising Coordinator will work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and Public Relations Coordinator in the carrying out of fundraising events. Basic Duties: Brainstorm and carry out fundraising activities Minimum Monthly Time Requirement: 3 hours
Grant Coordinator
Description
HPWA’s Grant Coordinator will be responsible for researching and documenting grant opportunities are a applicable to work conducted by HPWA, including: citizen monitoring, environmental, and restoration grants. The Grant Coordinator will work with HPWA staff to decide which grants should be pursued. As needed, the Grant Coordinator would write a selective set of grant proposals, which would be approved by HPWA staff. Another major duty that the Grant Coordinator would be responsible is to create and maintain a calendar with grant deadlines, and to notify HPWA when these deadlines are approaching. HPWA Volunteer
Land Stewardship Series Coordinator
Description
Work closely with HPWA staff in scheduling, outlining, and organizing HPWA’s Land Stewardship Series. Events for the Land Stewardship Series range from hands-on workshops to lectures, and are a vital part of HPWA’s educational services to the community. The Land Stewardship Series Coordinator will be in charge of brainstorming and coming up with new innovative ideas for events that will be part of the series, booking venues, scheduling dates and times, booking speakers or workshop advisors, and also work with the Public Relations Coordinator to properly promote events. Basic Duties: schedule events, book venues and speakers Minimum Monthly Time Requirement: 4 hours
Membership Coordinator
Description
Actively and continuously solicit members, as well as, organize and track current memberships. Membership coordinator will use a variety of media to recruit and retain members, including radio, internet (Facebook, website, etc), newspaper, etc. Membership coordinator will also work closely with HPWA staff to maintain member tracking, and also to report membership numbers and revenue. Finally, the membership coordinator will be in charge of doing a monthly member renewal for memberships that are nearing expiration. Public Relations Coordinator
Description
Further develop and maintain ongoing communications with the public and the local press (ie., The Optic, KFUN, etc.) to promote HPWA’s activities and events. The PR person will work closely with the Events Coordinator, the Land Stewardship Series Coordinator, and staff, as needed to create and distribute flyers for events, as well as promoting events in the local newspaper and on the local radio stations. Lastly, the Public Relations Coordinator will work closely with HPWA staff to develop and organize HPWA’s biannual newsletter. Basic Duties: creation and distribution of flyers, event promotion, and assistance with HPWA’s bi-annual newsletter Minimum Monthly Time Requirement: 2 hours
Volunteer Coordinator
Description
Actively and continuously recruit volunteers, and reach out to the current HPWA volunteers. HPWA expects the volunteer coordinator use Facebook, emails, place calls, and occasionally send out newsletters, to keep volunteers well informed of upcoming and current events and volunteering opportunities for events and/or workshops hosted or sponsored by HPWA. The volunteer coordinator will also have to be inventive and dedicated in recruiting a large diversified group of individuals, for each event and/or workshop hosted by HPWA. Must be outgoing, personable, and be able to communicate effectively with HPWA staff and volunteers. The volunteer coordinator will also be responsible for tracking volunteer interests, and skill sets, in order to properly match volunteers with duties and/or activities. Basic Duties: volunteer recruitment, volunteer tracking, employment and deployment of volunteers
